KazNet turns 20 in 2014

The registration date of the national domain name .KZ in the international IANA registry (http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/kz.html) - September 19, 1994 - can rightfully be considered the birthday of the Kazakhstani segment of the international Internet.

Over the years of its existence, the KazNet national address space has passed the mark of 100,000 registrations and shows a steady annual growth of 20-25%. KazNet has created an address space allowing the use of national alphabet characters - .ҚАЗ.

A competitive environment has been created in the domain name registration market, and consumers are served by 15 independent Registrars offering a diverse range of services and quality matching international standards.

The functions of the Registry are performed by the "Kazakhstan Network Information Center" institution (KazNIC), which ensures the operation of the National Registry of .KZ and .ҚАЗ domain names and the operation of the KazNet address space infrastructure on the Internet, since the day the national .KZ domain began operating.

The Kazakhstan Association of IT Companies has been the Administrator of the national domains since 2005, ensuring the development of Rules and Regulations, the accreditation of Registrars, and the systemic development of the KazNet address space.

The development of Kazakhstani content on the Internet is a task for all Kazakhstani Internet users, and this issue is in the focus of organizations such as Kazcontent JSC, the Internet Association, and other public organizations.
