A new DNS Node for .RU, .РФ and .SU domains has been set up in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan Network Information Center (KazNIC – operator of domains .KZ and .ҚАЗ) and Technical Center of Internet, operator of domains .RU, .SU and .РФ, have completed a joint project to expand DNS networks. New DNS Nodes have been set up in Moscow and Astana.

The new DNS Node in .RU, .РФ, .SU DNS network went live, with a total of nineteen DNS Nodes in the Russian backbone system as of today. Russian DNS Server has been set up with the assistance of Kazakhstan Association of IT Companies (administrator of .KZ and .ҚАЗ domains) via KazNIC’s backbone in the data-center of Republican State-owned Enterprise “State Technical Service” in the city of Astana. Internet connection of KazNIC in Astana is provided by network connections with three largest Kazakh telecom operators – Kazakhtelecom JSC, Astel JSC, TNS Plus LLP. The new node is available both via IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.

In addition to the new DNS Node serving Russian national domains that went live in Kazakhstan, another DNS Node for Kazakhstan’s national domains .KZ and .ҚАЗ went live in Moscow. The new DNS Node is located at MSK-IX technical site and is connected to the MSK-IX traffic exchange point. Information from the DNS Node serving .KZ and .ҚАЗ in Moscow is available to all leading Russian providers. This node is available both via IPv4 and IPv6 protocols as well.

Experts with MSK-IX actively participated in the set up of the Nodes.

Cooperation of Technical Center of Internet and Kazakhstan Network Information Center enables not only to expand DNS networks of both parties, but also ensure reliability and stability of the global network. The project facilitates the prompt processing of queries to Russian and Kazakh domains and makes Internet even more available for users.

«We pay a lot of attention to growth and expansion of our DNS Network. Especially for those regions of the world, where there are a lot of users of content in Russian language on the Internet”, says Elena Voronina, chief technical officer at Technical Center of Internet CJSC. “Choosing Kazakhstan as location of a new DNS Node is not accidental, it is caused by the increasing number of queries to our domains from Central Asia. Moreover, Kazakhstan Network Information Center has a reputation of a reliable partner, highly qualified personnel will allow to organize quality service of the Russian DNS Node infrastructure.»

«For all national registries it is extremely important to expand its presence in different regions of the world”, said Pavel Gussev, director of KazNIC. “We are happy to have an opportunity to organize this tight and mutually beneficial cooperation with Russian largest technical center. I believe it will positively affect development of Kazakh national domains.»
