A new K-Root DNS server is launched in Semey

KazNIC Organization (the operator of the national domains .KZ, .ҚАЗ) and the European Regional registry of addresses RIPE NCC have completed work on the launch of the K-Root DNS server at the platform of KazNIC in Semey city.

All user requests to the DNS system are implemented recursively, and if there is not a stored information about a domain name in a cache server of a provider, a poll starts from one of the 12 root servers until DNS server responsible for this name will not be found.

The presence of the root server in the proximity allows to reduce significantly the time required to determine the ip address of the specified domain name. As a consequence, the quality and the speed of the work in the Internet increases for users of the Kazakhstan segment.

DNS node K-Root is the second one of the root servers on the territory of Kazakhstan. The first root server L-Root was launched at the platform of KazNIC over 2 years ago, in liaison with the operator of the server ICANN Corporation.

Choice by the European Regional registry RIPE NCC of the platform of KazNIC for location of K-Root node became the confirmation of reliability and compliance with the international standards of the Network Information Center established in Semey city.

Clients of providers having a direct connection with KazNIC are able to enjoy the advantages of the presence of two root server DNS, at the same time with DNS servers for the national domain and .KZ and .ҚАЗ, russian .RU and .РФ, and servers of CommunityDNS (more than 100 million of the domain names all over the world).

Optical fiber data network of KazNIC in Semey city, built with the using of the technology MetroEthernet on Cisco equipment allows to fulfill direct connection at speeds of 1 Gbit / s for all concerned providers.

For today, four of the largest Kazakhstan providers have direct connection with the network of KazNIC in Semey and Astana.
